((a hidden side of Ever that might come as a surprise to some, since she always acts like a firecracker))
Ever lay curled up on high branch that she normally slept on. She could see the whole camp from here, except the trainers' den directly below her. She couldn't sleep, and she couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was the feeling that ants were crawling all over her pelt. Cats weren't supposed to sleep in trees. They're supposed to have a nest, warm and cozy around all of their friends. Two things she didn't have here - a nest or friends. When she had agreed with Moon to set up these tribes, she hadn't expected this much loneliness or uncomfort. Still, it seemed at times that all of this was for some greater good that she couldn't place yet.
Sighing, she closed her eyes and put the tip of her tail on her nose. It reminded her of her mother, curling up next to her and falling asleep. Her heart ached of her last home, the one filled with friends and family and secret admirers... Of when she had always been truly happy. Not just faking it so she didn't seem weak. Or cowardly. Or any thing else a leader shouldn't be.
She remembered back when she was almost done with being a trainer, a young defender had given her a beautiful shell -that she still has, hidden up here. He had said, "For Ever, forever." Probably the sweetest words ever said, yet the next day, he was killed in the battle that had forced her to run away. Run away, my dear daughter, and find a new home. Its not safe here anymore. Her mother's words still haunted her, because they were her dying words. Slumped on the floor were the tom she had wanted to spend her life with, along with her mother. It was heartbreaking, and not wanting to see anymore deaths, she left. She ran and ran as far away as possible, staying out of sight on the beach. When she came to a cliffside, she swam out into the water and went around it.
There was probably no way she could ever find her way back there now. Not just because it was the longest journey a cat could take, but also because of this new life.
The only substitute she had now.
